Canter Valley began back in 1987, and is located near Sefton in beautiful North Canterbury. The free range turkeys spend their days roaming around fresh green paddocks, pecking and nibbling away as they explore the farm. At night the turkeys are moved into the sheds to prevent exposure to harsh weather conditions and protect them from predators.
Turkey has more protein per gram than other meats and is also one of the leanest meats available. Its high protein content and good source of iron, zinc, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, tryptophan and B vitamins, make for one of the “14 superfoods that will change your life”, according to the book SuperFoods*.
Canter Valley ducks are protected from predators and extreme weather conditions by providing large air, open sided barns that are clean and dry. They have unlimited access to quality feed and water (for drinking and preening). Trained operators check the flocks several times each day to check that everything is in order
Canter Valley is a producer and supplier of quality gourmet poultry products to the restaurant, food service and retail markets in New Zealand.
